August 31, 2012 Jammin' it up on land
We
left Trinidad on May 17th and landed in Texas that night.
Since that day:
Dave turned a year older (May 20th); we hosted a rehearsal dinner for 36
guests (June2); we gained a wonderful daughter and precious
granddaughter when Michael married the girl of his dreams---and ours
(June 3); we laid wood floors, painted walls, and built 400 feet of
fencing around the house in Texas (mid June); babysat three dogs
while our son and daughter-in-law celebrated their honeymoon in St
Lucia; drove to Oregon in time to celebrate the 4th of July with Dave's
mom, our daughter, and granddaughter; hosted an Oregon Wedding reception
in Hillsboro (July 14); July 15th we drove our motor home 20 hours straight to
Disneyland with our son, his wife, 4 year old daughter, our daughter and her
2 year old daughter, and had a fun filled family vacation for 5 days; drove back to
Oregon while letting our daughter visit with friends in Sacramento and
Medford; stopped in Crater Lake, Bend (visited my brother and
sister-in-law), and Sisters, Oregon;
back to Milwaukie to do laundry and repack for a weekend sorority
reunion and 5 days of camping on the Metolius River; back to Milwaukie
for doctor appointments, packed again for another trip to Sister, OR and
babysitting our granddaughter so mom could work in Bend...and so flew
the summer like bits and pieces of important post-it notes. I will start substituting soon, Dave will start packing and ordering parts for the boat, and we will figure out when we plan to return to the boat in Trinidad--best guess mid-late November. Dave will go ahead of me as he needs to put on the rebuilt prop, rebuild the windless, and other boat projects. Our plans are to stay in the Caribbean through May and then head to the US for the first time in 6 years. Next summer we will sail up the East coast and visit ports that are deep enough for our 7 1/2 foot draft and 68 foot height.
